SculpSure Body Contouring Q & A

What is SculpSure?

SculpSure is a nonsurgical method of body contouring that targets stubborn body fat. In less than half an hour per session, the SculpSure laser system destroys up to 24% of fat cells. It works in areas that your best efforts don’t always conquer, such as:

  • Stomach
  • Love handles
  • Thighs
  • Lower back
  • Chin

You only qualify for the procedure if you’re near your target weight because it’s meant to shape the body, not eliminate large amounts of fat.

How does SculpSure work?

The number of fat cells you have tends to remain the same throughout adulthood, even if you lose weight. When you diet and exercise, you make the fat cells shrink, not get rid of them. SculpSure uses a laser that damages the fat cells by heating them. Your body then responds by eliminating the cells permanently.

What can I expect during a SculpSure treatment?

At the consultation for SculpSure, Dr. Abalos discusses your medical history and any medications you’re on to determine whether the procedure is safe for you.

During the treatment, Dr. Abalos seats you in a chair and wraps a device around you that emits 1,060 nanometers of laser energy. The applicator heats the targeted cells to 107.6° to 116.6° F, which doesn’t harm tissue or skin but does kill fat cells.

Once the procedure begins, the applicator repeatedly emits a cooling sensation and then heat. You might feel a bit of pain, warmth, or tingling during the procedure, but it’s tolerable for most men and women.

What can I expect after a SculpSure treatment?

Approximately 90% of men and women who have the procedure receive satisfactory results. You can resume your usual activities immediately after the procedure.

You may start seeing results in as little as six weeks, but the full effect usually takes 12 weeks. Most men and women require more than one treatment, which Dr. Abalos discusses with you before you begin SculpSure.
